A lot of questions can be raised about hiring a campervan. We've compiled some of the most common questions here, in order to make your holiday as hassle free as possible.

General Questions

Who Can Drive a Camper?
Anyone over 21 years of age with a valid driver license. Drivers must be 18 years and over for the Breezer & Nomad vehicle.

What is the minimum rental period?
Breezer campervan rentals have a 3-day minimum rental requirement when pick up and return are to the same location. The Breezer is available from Auckland and Christchurch.
The minimum rental period is five days for all other campers.
All campervan rentals with a collection date between the 23rd of December and the 10th of January are subject to a ten-day minimum rental requirement.
Minimum rental period is 10 days when a vehicle is being collected from the North Island and is being returned to the South Island if the rental commences between the months of October through to March.

How is the Rental Calculated?
Rental days are calculated on a calendar day basis. When calculating the number of days a vehicle is
rented, the day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle’s return is counted as the final day of the rental.

What if something happens?
Any repair up to $200 can be fixed and you will be reimbursed when you return. For amounts over $200 call our Auckland Branch on 0800 422 267 or call into any of our branches. Provided the renter was not directly responsible for the damage. Receipts must be submitted for any repair.

What if we have an accident?
Any accident must be reported within 24 hours. An accident report has to be completed as soon as possible. It is important to note that you are liable for all damage costs as a result of any accident, up to the applicable excess. The applicable excess will be processed at the time of an accident. Remember, if you have an accident, regardless of who is at fault, you have to pay the applicable excess.

Can the vehicles accommodate child / booster seats?
All children under the age of five must be properly restrained by an approved child restrain. Not all Backpacker vehicles can accommodate all types of child restraint equipment. Please contact us for more information.

Do multiple vehicle rentals give any discounts?
Rentals can be combined to qualify the renter for a longer term rental rate. Note: It is possible to combine Australian and New Zealand rentals to qualify under the multiple rental rate. Total insurances paid cannot be combined for Australian and New Zealand hires.

Do we pay Good and Services Tax?
Goods and Services tax is included in the daily gross rental rate of your vehicle hire.
